Beautiful Engagement Ring (Macro Photography)

Last week I had the opportunity to take some photos of my friends engagement ring. I only had a few minutes to capture a few shots and be creative with my 100mm macro lens.  Here are a few of my favorite photos from the photo shoot.

Close-up photo of the beautiful engagement ring.

This photo was taken with the help of my iPhone to give a cool surface reflection.  In addition, I mixed in ambient light with an off-camera remote flash.

Here's another close-up of the diamond ring sitting on a fossilstone I had in my office. I really love how the photo turned out with all the different colors. One of the coolest techniques a photographer can use to achieve a impressive effect in their photos is to shoot at a shallow depth of field. This technique isolates the subject from a beautiful blurry background.

For this photo I used the cover of my Bible to give an overall texture to the image.
