Sunset Photography

Sunset Photography Here are a few sunset photography tips:

  1. Shooting in the RAW image format is very important when taking sunset photographs.  Raw captures a wealth of light information.  Raw image formats are intended to capture as closely as possible (at the best of your specific sensor's performance) the radiometric characteristics of the scene, that is, physical information about the light intensity and color of the scene.
  2. Clean your lens and sensor often.  Dust spots are more pronounced in bright sky with a high aperture.

  3. Slightly underexpose your image to make the colors look more rich and defined.

  4. As they say in the military, "Shoot with both eyes open."  This can help you see other items around you that may enhance or wreck your photograph.
